The car accident and personal injury lawyers at The Law Offices of Alan LeVar in Arkansas never like this type of crash news:
A mom wrecked her car while taking a cellphone video of her kids in the backseat. No one was hurt, but someone easily could have been. Having a video of yours go viral would be awesome, but is it worth the risk of hurting you and your passengers in the process? No. Even though this video is difficult to watch, it has gone viral with the hopes that people will realize the dangers of videoing while driving.
With cellphone videos and Snapchat becoming more and more popular, it is important to consider the risks. Many ads focus on texting and talking while driving and while this is a huge concern, you can’t forget about videoing while driving.
I recently watched a video of a little girl singing to Elvis and it was adorable. The dad had attached a camera to the backseat so it was facing the little girl and he wasn’t having to pay attention to it. Instead, his eyes were on the road the whole time. This is a much better idea than trying to video while you are driving.
If you absolutely have to video your passengers then be smart about it. Have a passenger video it or if you have a GoPro, attach that to your backseat. People often forget the dangers of being distracted while driving and that has its consequences. The National Safety Council’s annual report discovered that 1 in 4 car wrecks are caused by cellphone use. As a result, many states are creating laws that prohibit cellphone use while driving.
