A Dallas man was killed on July 9 after a multi-truck accident on I-40 that was apparently caused when one of the trucks failed to stop for traffic.
Ronnie Smith was killed when his Cadillac DTS was pushed into the rear of a Freightliner rig. According to media accounts of the resulting police report, a Peterbilt rig struck Mr. Smith’s car, pushing it into the other truck and causing a chain reaction that resulted in Mr. Smith’s death and multiple injuries.
Police are still investigating the accident. However, it’s long been known that massive commercial trucks require much more distance to properly brake than normal passenger cars. Arkansas truck accident lawyerAlan LaVar has seen the consequences of a failure to properly brake too many times.
Fatal truck accidents like the tragic wreck that killed Mr. Smith are all-too-common on Arkansas’ highways. While it’s too early to draw conclusions about this specific accident, it does make clear the importance of driving safely around large commercial trucks.
